Another Bachelor Party Goes Sideways

An excerpt from the book Stripped Down: A Naked Memoir by Stacey Keith

An amazing “truth is stranger than fiction story” from Stacey’s fantastic memoir about trying to fit a mold that isn’t right for her, but society says she needs to fit. Do you think society continues to tell women how they should fit in?

I do, as I spoke to another female entrepreneur this morning. It came up as we discussed being women in management in our past careers. I was a purchasing manager, and she was a stage manager for large productions.

I never fit into corporate workplaces because I refused to manage like an authoritarian man. I declined even when asked by a tyrannical man to “lord it over” employees. I don’t treat my employees that way; I never will, and I succeeded.

The Handmaid’s Tale may be a work of fiction, but it’s based on fact. That’s a scary thought for our future and the place of women in it. If you don’t find that believable, read this story.

It’s disturbing a conservative woman, Candace Owens, is saying Harvey Weinstein is innocent of charges. I read an article by a man who worked for Harvey’s company, who admitted it was a toxic place to work, even for men. He watched many amazing co-workers leave the company because of the culture.

I can’t understand why I see all sorts of articles on LinkedIn about good leadership, and everyone piles on, saying they agree. Authoritarian leadership is the opposite of good leadership, but we continue to vote for it, put up with it, and then complain vociferously about it.

I leave you with a fantastic article about men and patriarchy to get you thinking more on this topic.
